About SIPSStructural Insulated Panels

What are SIPS?

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) are a high performance building system that is extremely durable, strong and energy-efficient. A SIP system structurally will typically outperform conventional stick framed construction.

The panels consist of a rigid plastic insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). The panels can be manufactured in various sizes or dimensions with thickness varying between 4 to 8 inches.

Structural Integrated Panels can be used in walls, ceilings, floors and roofs.

SIPS are extremely strong, energy-efficient and offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional stick framed construction.

Benefits of SIPS

  • Higher strength-to-weight ratio.
  • Insulation offered by SIPS is superior compared to traditional construction methods.
  • Higher R-values can be obtained.
  • Saves time and money with a faster method of construction.
  • No need to look for studs to place fasteners.
  • produces flatter surfaces to work with.
  • More air-tight structure can be build, resulting in a more sound proof unit.
  • Less expensive heating and cooling equipment can be used inside the structure.
  • Reduced amounts of material waste and labor.
